Afimico Pululu, who holds dual citizenship, was faced with the decision of choosing his national team. Initially, he opted for Angola, but later changed his mind, leaning towards representing DR Congo.

Interestingly, despite this choice, he has yet to make his debut for the team. Just before his first planned appearance, he suffered an injury and couldn’t attend that international call-up.

Now, with the Africa Cup of Nations approaching, Pululu was hoping for another opportunity and a chance to make his debut. However, it appears that he will have to wait even longer, as Sebastien Desabre has not included Afimico Pululu in DR Congo’s squad for the upcoming continental tournament.

Set to take place in Morocco between December 21 and January 6, the Africa Cup of Nations will see DR Congo competing in Group D against Senegal, Benin, and Botswana.

The top two teams along with four strong third-placed squads will advance to the round of 16. Among DR Congo’s roster, one representative from the PKO BP Ekstraklasa will feature. Steve Kapuadi from Legia Warsaw has been selected to participate in the tournament.

DR Congo, unfortunately, won’t be heading to the 2026 World Cup. Despite coming close, they fell short in the decisive two-legged tie against Morocco (1-1 and 1-4).

As for Pululu, this season saw him making 24 appearances for Jagiellonia, during which he scored 11 goals and provided two assists.
