Manchester United hasn’t had the best start to the new season. Despite the team defeating Chelsea 2:1 in their most recent match, their earlier performances fell short of expectations. After five rounds, the Red Devils have accumulated only seven points, placing them in 11th position in the Premier League standings.
This underwhelming run has sparked increasing speculation about the future of Ruben Amorim as their head coach. The Portuguese manager, who took charge of the English side with high hopes, is facing mounting scrutiny from both the fans and the club’s management.
According to the British outlet “Football Insider,” Manchester United’s leadership has already compiled a shortlist of potential replacements for Amorim. Among the candidates are three current Premier League managers: Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace, Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth, and Marco Silva of Fulham.
All three coaches boast experience in managing teams in the English Premier Division, widely regarded as one of the most challenging football leagues. Their familiarity with the league makes them intriguing options to potentially replace the current Portuguese manager.
Oliver Glasner has especially caught the eye of United’s decision-makers, having led the Eagles to both the FA Cup and the Community Shield victories. The 51-year-old Austrian previously achieved success in the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt, showcasing his considerable managerial capabilities.
On the other hand, Iraola showcased his expertise by leading the Cherries to a 9th-place finish last season. Meanwhile, Silva has been steadily transforming Fulham since July 2021, bringing stability and an appealing playing style to the London team.
The decision regarding a new coach, should Amorim indeed lose his position, could prove pivotal for Manchester in their quest to return to competing for the top honors.
