PSV might need to start searching for a new striker. Alassane Pléa suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury during Sunday’s match against FC Twente. Considering Ricardo Pepi isn’t fully fit either, it’s likely the Eindhoven club will look for reinforcements in the transfer market. On the program Studio Voetbal, an unexpected name came up as a potential solution: Brian Brobbey.
After the game against Twente, Bosz acknowledged that PSV may need to seek new options if Pléa’s injury proves to be long-term. During Studio Voetbal, host Sjoerd van Ramshorst posed the question of who PSV should target. “They should buy Brobbey,” replied Van Hooijdonk with a tone of conviction, prompting some laughter among the panel.
Nordin Boukhari expressed skepticism about the idea. “Are they really going to sign Brobbey from a rival club?” he questioned. Van Ramshorst then pressed Van Hooijdonk on whether PSV should seriously consider the Ajax striker. “Yes,” Van Hooijdonk responded firmly.
Meanwhile, Arno Vermeulen speculated that Ajax might be open to selling Brobbey if they need the financial boost, raising curiosity about what fee the Amsterdam club might demand.
Lauritsen as a Viable Alternative
Boukhari suggested that Ajax might agree to a deal for around 15 to 16 million euros, but also brought up Sparta striker Tobias Lauritsen as a solid alternative for PSV.
“He’d be an excellent fit for PSV’s playing style, and he would cost much less than Brobbey while also being eager to move on to a new challenge. Lauritsen thrives on crosses from wide players like Perisic and Dest, while Mauro Júnior could overlap and deliver dangerous balls from the left. Additionally, Lauritsen’s hold-up play is impressive.”
