Marc Casado has caught the attention of Atletico Madrid. The Spanish powerhouse is reportedly keen on turning the midfielder into a vital member of Diego Simeone’s squad, as reported by FC Barcelona Noticias. Recently, Barcelona valued him at 30 million euros.

Casado, a product of the La Masia academy, found himself sidelined late last season, with Frenkie de Jong taking his spot in the lineup. While Hansi Flick still views him as a valuable backup, the competition for midfield positions remains extremely fierce. Alongside De Jong, the likes of Gavi, Pedri, Fermín Lopez, and Marc Bernal are vying for game time.

What Atletico offers is something Barcelona cannot: consistent playing opportunities. Simeone sees Casado as a perfect fit for his tactical setup and envisions him playing a significant role following Rodrigo de Paul’s move to Inter Miami. However, the transfer fee remains a sticking point, as Barcelona expects at least 30 million euros for the 20-year-old.

The Madrid side has already initiated talks with the player’s camp, encouraging him to push for a move himself. Casado, however, remains uncertain. He’s eager to continue his journey at Camp Nou but understands that playing under Simeone could boost his chances for a call-up to the 2026 World Cup.

For Barcelona, this situation is far from straightforward. While the player fits Flick’s vision, he also presents an opportunity for the club to secure a substantial financial gain.

The final decision will depend not only on the offers presented but also on the attitude of the player himself.
