The long-running transfer saga surrounding Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen has finally concluded. Bringing relief to both fans and officials across the footballing world. After months of speculation, negotiations, and tantalising rumours, Osimhen has reached a breakthrough agreement with Napoli. Ensuring his permanent stay at Galatasaray following a successful medical evaluation.
Osimhen, who dazzled on loan at Galatasaray with an astonishing 37 goals in 41 appearances last season, will remain in Istanbul as part of a blockbuster deal valued at €75 million. The structure of the agreement will see Galatasaray pay €40 million up front, with the remaining €35 million due by the end of 2026. Napoli, in turn, secures a 10% sell-on clause and up to €5 million in potential bonuses. At the same time, an “anti-Serie A” condition will prevent Osimhen from joining any Italian rival club for two years.
This record deal, one of the most expensive in Turkish football history, marks the beginning of a new era for Osimhen’s wildly successful Turkish spell.
The Transfer Saga That Included European Giants and Mega Offers
Before settling in Turkey, Osimhen’s name was consistently linked to top clubs across Europe’s major leagues. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United were all rumoured destinations but ultimately baulked at Napoli’s valuation and the striker’s salary demands.
Paris Saint-Germain was reportedly keen but did not make a formal offer, instead focusing its resources elsewhere. Al-Hilal offered a record salary package, which Osimhen turned down in favour of continuing his European adventure.
Despite the lucrative and high-profile interest, Osimhen and his camp ultimately determined that Galatasaray’s ambition and his own status as a club legend in Istanbul were the most compelling.
With his contract confirmed, Osimhen will sign a four-year deal reportedly worth €18 million annually. He will look to build on his phenomenal debut season, leading Galatasaray into domestic and European competition. After winning the title last season, the Turkish giants will challenge for the title once again and try to make an impactful run in Europe with Osimhen spearheading the attack.
