Real Madrid faced a crushing 4-0 defeat against PSG in the semifinals of the Club World Cup. The Spanish giants had little to offer against the recent Champions League winners, sparking intense debates in Spanish media. Analysts from El Chiringuito were particularly critical of the squad’s key players.
The harshest criticism was aimed at Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. The two stars were mainly rebuked for their lack of commitment to pressing during the game. Fran Garrido went as far as to suggest that the team’s progression could only occur if one of these two players leaves the club.
“Either Vinicius or Mbappe adjusts their attitude, or one of them will have to go. They have disrespected Real Madrid,” the expert asserted.
Additionally, Josep Pedrerol raised concerns about Vinicius Junior’s dedication to Real Madrid. The Brazilian’s behaviour, both on and off the pitch, was called into question, with critics pointing out actions that signalled a lack of respect for the institution.
“There’s the matter of Vinicius. There’s plenty of talk about renewing his contract, but then on social media, he removes the name of Real Madrid and deletes photos of him lifting the European Cup.
This shows a disconnect between Vinicius and the club or its supporters. Before extending his contract, a conversation is needed to understand his feelings. Is he motivated to stay in Madrid? Does he want to continue? Xabi Alonso has a lot on his plate – good luck to him,” the journalist stated.
