Denzel Dumfries appears to be thriving at Internazionale. The Dutch defender had an impressive performance last season, although major trophies eluded him. Despite this, the right-back remains highly valued in Milan.
As a result, the Oranje international secured a fantastic new contract this past winter. However, there’s a possibility that Dumfries might make a move this summer, as Fabrizio Romano reports that Dumfries might be available for a modest fee.
Clubs interested in adding Dumfries to their squads would be wise to act sooner rather than later. The Oranje international has a buyout clause in his current contract, allowing him to leave the Milan club for €25 million during the summer transfer window. However, there’s urgency involved—this clause is set to expire by mid-July.
During the winter, it was unclear whether Dumfries would extend his stay with the Nerazzurri. After prolonged negotiations, the right-back eventually committed to Milan, effectively turning down any suitors at the time. Yet, with the inclusion of this release clause, there’s speculation that Dumfries may be contemplating his next career move, potentially securing a transfer for a relatively low fee.
Dumfries initially joined Internazionale in the summer of 2021. Soon after, the former PSV and Sparta Rotterdam player established himself as a key figure in Milan’s starting lineup. To date, the wing-back has made 179 appearances for the Italian side, contributing 22 goals and 26 assists during his tenure with the Nerazzurri.
