Bayern Munich recently decided not to renew Leroy Sane’s expiring contract, and Serge Gnabry’s future with the team remains uncertain. As a result, head coach Vincent Kompany is focused on adding a new winger to his squad. Though names like Rafael Leao and Nico Williams have been linked to a move to the Allianz Arena in recent days, securing either player is expected to be a challenging task. This has led the Bundesliga champions to explore alternative options.
One potential target is Arsenal’s left-sided forward, Gabriel Martinelli, according to Christian Falk from the German newspaper “BILD.” A transfer for the 24-year-old Brazilian to Bayern Munich appears plausible, as the London club is reportedly open to listening to offers for the player. Arsenal is working to reduce its wage bill, and parting ways with the winger—who currently has an estimated market value of 55 million euros—could be a step in that direction.
Martinelli, who has been capped 18 times for the Brazilian national team, joined Arsenal in July 2019 from Ituano FC for a fee exceeding 7 million euros. Ituano was where the player began his football career. Standing 178 cm tall, the forward has made 225 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 51 goals and providing 29 assists. His current contract with Arsenal runs until June 2027.
