Despite a stellar season of growth last year, Precious Ugwu looks set to part ways with Ajax this summer. The Netherlands Under-19 international shared this with Meridian Sport.
Ugwu made 27 appearances for Jong Ajax in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie during the past season. “Overall, this was a positive year. I played consistently for Jong Ajax, even though I’m still eligible to compete for Ajax U19,” the young defender explained.
“Playing for this club is a fantastic feeling. It’s one of the top clubs, and I’ve grown tremendously. I’ve had the opportunity to train with the first team and even played against Olympiakos. Unfortunately, I haven’t made my official debut yet, and it seems likely that I’ll be leaving the club this summer.”
According to Ajax Showtime, Ugwu has attracted interest from both Eredivisie sides and clubs abroad. Despite having one year left on his contract in Amsterdam, he is brimming with ambition: “I want to win the Champions League and the World Cup and become the best defender in the world.”
