Justin Njinmah and Felix Agu playing for Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen’s Felix Agu, fresh off his debut for the Super Eagles, is making headlines not just for his on-field performance but also for his off-field efforts. He sis actively encouraging his club teammate, Justin Njinmah, to join him in donning the green and white of Nigeria.

Njinmah, 24, is another German-born talent with Nigerian heritage. The Hamburg native has enjoyed a solid Bundesliga season. He scored three goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances for Bremen. Known for his speed and direct play as a forward, Njinmah has attracted interest from both the German and Nigerian football federations. While Germany has yet to call him up for senior international duty, Nigeria’s interest is growing. Especially with Agu actively lobbying for his inclusion.

The Super Eagles could benefit immensely from Njinmah’s addition. His attacking prowess and versatility would offer coach Chelle more options up front, especially with Nigeria’s depth in attacking positions. Pairing Njinmah with Agu, who can operate on either flank, could create a dynamic partnership reminiscent of their club synergy at Bremen. Njinmah’s Bundesliga experience, 51 appearances and nine goals in his career so far, shows he has the pedigree to compete at the highest level.

Agu made his long-awaited debut for Nigeria at the Unity Cup in London. He started and played 83 minutes in a dramatic final against Jamaica. The Super Eagles triumphed 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Agu fitted seamlessly into the team and earned praise for his composure and versatility at full-back.

Agu’s successful integration at the Unity Cup sets a strong example for Njinmah. As the Super Eagles prepare for the upcoming AFCON and World Cup qualifiers, Agu’s call for Njinmah to join the squad could be the catalyst for another talented star to commit his future to Nigeria. Helping to further strengthen the national team’s prospects.
