Real Madrid is gearing up for significant squad reinforcements during the summer transfer window. The first major signing for Los Blancos was Dean Huijsen, and the club is preparing to finalise at least two more transfers in the coming weeks. Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s president, is currently in discussions with Portuguese side Benfica over the signing of Alvaro Carreras.
According to the latest updates shared by Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is almost settled. Real Madrid has reached an agreement with the player, who is eager to join the squad at Santiago Bernabeu. However, the negotiations with Benfica over the transfer fee remain unresolved.
The deal is expected to be finalised after the Portuguese Cup final, set to take place on May 25th. Benfica is scheduled to face Sporting CP, and it appears that Real Madrid wants to avoid distracting Carreras prior to this crucial match, ensuring smoother discussions with the Portuguese club afterward.
Los Blancos are likely to pay around 50 million euros for Carreras, which is a considerable investment for a left-back. However, Florentino Perez might have some regrets, as the Spanish defender previously played in Real Madrid’s youth system between 2017 and 2020. Letting him go back then may have cost the club a chance to secure him more easily.
