FC Barcelona remains in contention for all trophies as the season comes to a close. Under the guidance of Hansi Flick, they are leading La Liga, competing in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey, and have advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals. Alongside Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha has also had an outstanding season, scoring 27 goals and providing 20 assists in 42 matches across all competitions.
In the latest Ballon d’Or candidates ranking published by Goal.com, Raphinha is recognized as the top contender. The TOP10 also includes Lamine Yamal in 3rd place and Robert Lewandowski in 8th.
Lamine Yamal was questioned by the Catalan outlet Sport about who deserves the Ballon d’Or more. The Spanish international refrained from naming a specific player but hinted that if Barcelona wins all the titles, the award will undoubtedly go to a Blaugrana player.
– We haven’t discussed it. If Barcelona clinches the titles ahead of us, one of us will win it, no matter who it is. I’m very happy for Raphinha; I always tell him this. His improvement has been incredible, and he’s having a fantastic season – said Lamine Yamal, as quoted by BarcaInfo on X.
Yamal has scored 13 goals and made 17 assists in 38 matches across all competitions.
Currently, he is with the Spanish national team training camp, where La Furia Roja will face the Netherlands in the Nations League. The loser of this match-up will play against Poland in the World Cup qualifiers.
