✔ 1×2 Prediction: Portugal vs Uruguay
This matchup is undecided. The two teams look to be dark horses in this World Cup. This clash should allow the two teams to reaffirm their ambitions. We can see Portugal taking this match by a slight margin.
✔ Exact Score Prediction: Portugal vs Uruguay
This beautiful World Cup 2022 matchup opposes two teams who have only faced off once, during the previous World Cup in Russia. The Uruguayans won. Thus, the Europeans will be out for revenge.
Victory for Portugal
This is the most likely scenario. Portugal is the favourite of the group and should have the advantage. However, it will have to be realistic against a team who will certainly put a lot of force into its challenges, and demonstrate patience. A score of 2-1 or 1-0 should suffice.
We can’t see there being a huge difference in the level of the two talented teams. A draw is entirely possible between the two main characters in this group; 1-1 or 2-2.
Victory for Uruguay
A win against Portugal would send quite a message to the rest of the world. Uruguay possesses some talented individuals, but we imagine that a win for the South Americans would be the least likely outcome. Even 0-1 or 1-2 would be impressive.
✔ Half-time/Full-time prediction: Draw 1st half; Portugal 2nd half
We foresee an even match. Both teams could possibly score in the first half two end up level by the break. Portugal will likely have to wait for a break if they hope to avoid the trap set by Uruguay in the second half.
✔ Scorer Predictions: Portugal vs Uruguay
The many Portuguese stars may well stand out here, particularly Diogo Jota et Cristiano Ronaldo. On the Uruguayan side, the newcomer of the season, Darwin Núñez could prove himself in front of the whole world if he gives a good performance against a European big-hitter.
✔ Double Chance Scoring predictions: Diogo Jota / Darwin Núñez
As we said above, Diogo Jota et Darwin Núñez will certainly be in the line-ups, and have a good chance of scoring in this undecided matchup. The two attackers, who both competed in the Champions leave this season, are gradually picking up more and more experience.
📄 Match Analysis: Portugal vs Uruguay
Portugal has been frightened. Second in its qualifying group behind Serbia, Fernando Santos’ men have had to go through the play-offs in order to qualify for the World Cup. As such, they beat Turkey and then North Macedonia in order to ensure their place.
Uruguay is not shaken. In the South American zone, the Uruguayans finished 3rd, far behind Brazil and Argentina, and will compete in their fourth consecutive World Cup. Diego Godin’s teammates will want to go as far as possible.
Portugal is looking for revenge for 2018. The two nations have not faced each other much. This will be only the second time they have faced off in a World Cup, after the round of 16 of the previous World Cup, which saw Uruguay get the better of Portugal, who were the reigning European champions at the time (2-1). A double for Cavani put an end to the hopes of the Portuguese, despite Pepe’s equaliser.
Portugal has found its rhythm. After a disappointing Euro on the whole, the 2016 Champions of Europe recovered well by winning seven of their last nine matches, with one draw, and a loss against Serbia. In the playoffs, the team didn’t waver and ensured its place in its sixth consecutive World Cup.
Uruguay is inconsistent. The South American team has in effect won sixth of its last thirteen matches, with five losses and two draws. The Uruguayans will have to be more consistent during this World Cup if they hope to have a good run, as they did in 2010 (semi-finalists) and 2018 (quarter-finalists).
