📄 Analysis Ghana – Uruguay
Ghana showed an interesting physical intensity and a desire to play forward. By defeating the Koreans, they have put themselves on the right track to qualification.
Uruguay can’t score. With only one point, they will have to move their block forward and give themselves away which could well be their undoing. Their sluggish defence could be overwhelmed.
Ghana initially came out on top of their group in the second round of African Zone qualifying, albeit on equal points with South Africa. Only a better goal difference allowed them to reach the play-off against Nigeria. In a tight, physical encounter, the Black Stars finally got the better of the Super Eagles thanks to an away goal, despite Nigeria’s dominance in Abuja (0-0 then 1-1).
Uruguay did not tremble. In the South American zone, La Celeste finished third, far behind Brazil and Argentina, and will play in their fourth consecutive World Cup. Diego Godin’s teammates will try to go as far as possible in Qatar.
Another mythical encounter? The only time these two teams have met was in the 2010 quarter-finals, when Uruguay won 1-1, (PK 4-2), in a match marked by Suarez’s handball in extra time to stop a goal. Gyan missed his penalty before La Celeste won on penalty shoot-out.
✔ Correct score prediction Ghana – Uruguay
Ghana seem to have the weapons to cause problems to an erratic Uruguayan team. Our prediction for the correct score would be an even contest that would see the African nation win by a narrow margin.
It may be surprising but this is the scenario we favour. Ghana may be playing with their typical team and Uruguay have not displayed an interesting playing style since the beginning of the tournament.
This scenario is entirely possible. The two teams are currently not very far apart in terms of level, and the score should be close. That is why it is not inconceivable that the two nations will split the points.
This is the least likely option for us. Uruguay seem to be coming to the end of an era with many of their players being 35 years old or more (Muslera, Godin, Cavani, Suarez) and this World Cup in Qatar could be the competition of the year for this generation.
✔ Half-time/Full-time Prediction : Draw – 1st half : Ghana – 2nd half
Logically, we see an even game that will come down to small details. Nevertheless, the Black Stars could be patient and score the only goal of the game after the break to grab the three points.
✔ Goalscorer prediction Ghana Uruguay
For this World Cup game, we think Andre Ayew and 19-year-old nugget Felix Afena-Gyan could cause the Uruguayan defence some problems. For the South Americans, Luis Suarez could still be in the mix against Ghana.
✔ Double chance goalscorer prediction : A. Ayew / L. Suarez
Andre Ayew and Luis Suarez are two formidable weapons for their respective countries. If both players are on the pitch, they could cause serious problems for opposing defences. We see them scoring if they are on the pitch.
